We have just returned from New York City after attending the prestigious Elite Dance Tournament in NYC. The Elite Dance Tournament is hosted by a partnership between The Joffrey Ballet School and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. At this competition dancers compete in classical ballet and contemporary categories while being scored in both stage performance and master classes.

Two of our Senior students competed, Katie Davis and Renee Smith, both 15 years old. The Senior division at this competition is from 15yrs – 19yrs consisting of dancers from professional schools and high calibre dance organizations. No trophies or medals are given, and there is only 1st thru 10th place for all dancers ages 15yrs-19yrs.
We entered knowing we were at the younger end of the age category with the intention to learn, grow and expose our students to a different perspective in dance. The judges and faculty consisted of the likes of The Legendary Desmond Richardson and Director of The Joffrey Ballet School Jo Mathos.
Renee and Katie received extraordinary feedback that I’m sure they will carry with them through out their lives.

We are so humbled and honoured to announce the final results! We had so much fun and witnessed the students grow so much and now we just found out (after 4 days of waiting) that we placed in the top ten!!!
We are very proud of Katie and Renee for this outstanding achievement:
1st Overall Senior Duet/Trio – Fire and Water
5th Overall Senior Contemporary Solo – Renee Smith
7th Overall Senior Contemporary Solo – Katie Davis
8th Overall Senior Classical Ballet Solo – Katie Davis
