Join us for an EPIC event you do not want to miss the opportunity to experience! “The Surrender Gala” on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 at The General Sikorski Banquet Venue at 1551 Stevenson Rd N, Oshawa, ON L1N 7KH

Proceeds from the evening will help create arts based healing therapy programs for local youth in partnership with Art With Heart/Durham Children’s Aid Foundation.

In addition to a formal sit down dinner, there will be professional and youth performances in Dance, Music and Spoken word.

The DSBCD Youth Company
Afua Ngoma Dance and Drum Ensemble

The goal of this event is to create a connectivity in our community that encourages honest dialogue about mental health that promotes inclusivity. The Arts have proven to be very effective as a means of therapy and the night promises to be a creative release of energy that will leave you invigorated and inspired!
Help us erase the stigma of mental health issues by coming together to create change in our community through the power of the Arts.

Youth Scholarship Awards.png

We believe that amazing arts programs should be available to all children in our community and are currently accepting applications for two Surrender Youth Schoarlaship Awards in partnership with our Surrender Gala on February 25th, 2017.

The Surrender Youth Scholarship is a full year tuition to The Durham School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance year round program. This scholarship includes weekly classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Acro and Hip-hop at an elite level.
Scholarship requirements:
Students must be between the ages of 7-12 years old
Students must be from a low-income household
Students must submit a video essay on why they want to dance (up to 3 minutes)
Students must submit one photo

Deadline for submission is February 15th, 2017
