The Durham School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance’s aim is to provide a space for the cultivation of creativity through dance. “Dance is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun. Our role as Dance Educators is to help children climb their own mountains. As high as possible!”

We offer classes from 2 – 18 years old in all genres of dance including ballet, jazz, acro, tap hip-hop and contemporary. We understand that not every student plans to pursue a professional career; however we believe that the discipline, strength and creativity instilled by the study of dance gives students the tools to succeed in any field they choose.

We are an award winning studio, achieving the highest awards in choreography throughout Ontario and The United States and are recognized not only for our superb training grounds and high calibre faculty, but for our powerful outreach initiatives in the arts impacting our community in positive ways.

We guarantee the highest calibre faculty with real professional experience and post-secondary training. We have 10 faculty members at DSBCD in 2017/18 with specialized expertise in all genres of dance.
